Beauford E. ”Sonny” Grant, 78, a longtime resident of Dover Plains, NY died on Saturday, December 26, 2015 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. Mr. Grant was a motorcycle technician at Ed’s Service Motorcycles in Hyde Park, NY and was a truck driver for a local Restaurant and Supply Company.

Born on May 23, 1937 in Troy, Kansas he was the son of the late Beauford W. and Veda F. (Farrington) Grant. Mr. Grant graduated from Poughkeepsie High School class of 1955 and attended Dutchess Community College where he took many art classes. Mr. Grant raced and repaired Triumph and Yamaha motorcycles all over the northeast. While competing, he placed in several races.

Mr. Grant is survived by four nieces, Wanda Calabro, Linda Acken and Lori Couture all of Dover Plains, NY and Veda Gardner of Kearney, MS and a nephew Alan D. Benson of Pine Plains, NY. He is also survived by a sister, Juanita M. Benson of Dover Plains, NY and several great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Grant was predeceased by a brother, John F. Grant.
