Petra derBoghossian, 65, a longtime area resident died on Friday, December 25, 2015 at Huntington Hospital in Huntington, NY. Mrs. derBoghossian was a registered nurse at the Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center and the Wassaic Developmental Center for 25 years.
Born on March 23, 1950 in Poughkeepsie, NY she was the daughter of the late Raymond Britton, Sr. and Minerva (Pearson) Britton. Mrs. derBoghossian was a graduate of the Harlem Valley School of Nursing. On September 29, 1973 at St. Johns Church in Pawling, NY she married Donald R. derBoghossian who predeceased her on April 3, 2007.
Mrs. derBoghossian is survived by her son, Scott derBoghossian and his wife, Julia, of East Northport, NY; a daughter, Melissa derBoghossian of Schenectady, NY; two brothers, Allen Britton of Council Bluffs, IA and Frederick Britton of New Hampshire and two sisters, Bernice Morris of South Carolina and Patricia Spinner of Pawling, NY. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Ava and Gemma derBoghossian. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. derBoghossian was predeceased by seven brothers and three sisters.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 62 Mill Street, Dover Plains, NY.
