Heyward  Cary "Woody"  Cohen
Heyward “Woody” Cary Cohen, 73, a longtime resident of Amenia, NY, died on Friday, August 1, 2014 at his home. Mr. Cohen was a rehabilitation counselor at the Wassaic Developmental Center in Wassaic, NY, Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center in Wingdale, NY and Hudson River Psychiatric Center in Poughkeepsie, NY for 40 years retiring in 1999.

Born on January 21, 1941 in Queens, NY, he was the son of the late Abraham Joseph Cohen and Barbara Lieberman Cohen. He was a graduate of the State University at Stony Brook with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He was a member of the Amenia Historical Society and the Town of Amenia Conservation Advisory Council. A train enthusiast, he was an avid collector of model HO trains. He also enjoyed photography.

He is survived by his wife, Lana Anguin of Amenia, NY, a daughter, Rebecca Anguin-Cohen of New York City and a son, Michael Cohen and his partner, Nancy Barton, of New York City. He is also survived by a sister, Alayne Smith of Florida. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Cara Cohen.

Graveside services and burial will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Amenia Island Cemetery in Amenia, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to the Amenia Historical Society, P.O.
