Obituary for Evelyn J. Forbes
Evelyn J. Forbes, 96, a lifelong resident of Dover Plains, NY, died on Friday, October 7, 2022 at her daughter’s home in Dover Plains. Mrs. Forbes was a secretary at the Donald B. Dedrick Agency in Dover Plains for 20 years retiring in 1987.
Born on November 16, 1925 in Dunmore, PA, she was the daughter of the late John Rudolph and Matilda (White) Novak. She was a graduate of Dover High School Class of 1943 and the Krissler Business School in Poughkeepsie, NY. On June 8, 1947 at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Dover Plains, NY, she married Arthur W. Forbes who died on November 1, 1982.
She was a former member of the Dover Senior Citizens and a parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Church in Dover Plains, NY.
Mrs. Forbes is survived by a son, Arthur W. Forbes, Jr. and his wife, Cynthia, of Charleston, SC and a daughter, Patricia Murphy of Dover Plains, NY; two grandchildren, Justin and Heather Forbes and a great grandson, Nathan Forbes.
Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son-in-law, Fredrick Murphy; two brothers, Donald and John R. Novak and three sisters, Helen Pitcher, Marie Brady and Agnes Novak.
There will be no calling hours. Graveside services and burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at St. Charles Cemetery, S. Nellie Hill Road in Dover Plains.
