Ida Cora Ross, 85, a resident of Dover Plains, NY died on Monday, September 29, 2014 at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY. Mrs. Ross was a nurse’s aide at the Dutchess County Infirmary in Millbrook, NY retiring in 1984.

Born on May 31, 1929 in Sharon, CT she was the daughter of the late Murvin and Pearl (McIntyre) Grey. Mrs. Ross grew up in the Dover Furnace area of Dover Plains, NY. She married Paul Ross who predeceased her on September 13, 2007. She loved baking and cooking for her family and friends. Mrs. Ross also enjoyed gardening, drawing, and word games. Most of all, she was a compassionate caregiver who kept her family and friends connected no matter how far away they were.

Mrs. Ross leaves behind her many family members and close friends including two daughters, Donna Howard and her husband, Michael of Merrill, ME and Paula Ward and her husband, John of Stanfordville, NY. She is also survived by a grandson, John-Paul Ward of Tivoli, NY. Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Ross was predeceased by four sisters, Pearl (Peach) Tompkins, Bertha Heiser, Anna Maxey, and Dorothy Post.

Calling hours will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, October 3, 2014 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Clove Valley Cemetery in LaGrangeville, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to Hudson Valley Hospice, 374 Violet Ave. Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
