Gary Frank  Thornton
Gary Frank Thornton, 51, passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2018. He was born on May 30, 1967 to Charles J. Thornton, Jr. and Jeanne Coddington Thornton at Horton Hospital in Middletown, NY. He lived in Amenia and Millerton, NY most of this life. He graduated from Webutuck High School in 1985 and worked at Northeast Muffler for the past 32 years as a valued mechanic.

He was an avid bowler in his youth who bowled two perfect games. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially getting together with his four brothers. He loved playing golf with his family, fishing, following NASCAR and cooking and barbecuing at his home in Millerton,

He is survived by his mother, Jeanne and his step father Herbert Schwager, Jr., of Wassaic, NY and his four brothers: Charles and his wife, Marcia Judson, of Myrtle Beach, SC, David and his wife, Janet Davidson, of Mattituck, NY, Scott and his wife, Rebecca Carlson, of Sharon, CT, and Douglas and his wife, Julie Harbold, of Bryan, TX. He is also survived by an extended family of loving cousins, nieces, nephews and other family members, by a dear friend Debra Darling, and by his beloved dog Rex.

He was predeceased by his father, Charles J. Thornton, Jr. and his grandparents, Marion and Frank Coddington and Charles and Martha Thornton.

Calling hours will be held from 3 to 5 pm and 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. Funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday. July 26, 2018 at Smithfield Presbyterian Church, 656 Smithfield Valley Rd, Amenia, NY with Pastor Douglas Grandgeorge officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society, 214 Barker Road, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
