Veronica Anna Bunkoczy, 93, passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Candlewood Valley Health Care Center in New Milford, CT.
Born on Feb. 1, 1925 in Novi-Sad Yugoslavia, she was the daughter of the late Lajos and Rozalia Morvai. On September 5, 1953 in Novi-Sad, Yugoslavia, she married Arpad Bunkoczy who predeceased her on May 9, 2005. The couple immigrated to the US in 1956 and they settled in Norwalk, CT. Veronica and Arpad moved to sunny Arizona in 1983, and lived in Fountain Hills until her husband’s death, when she moved to Mesa Arizona. In 2016 she moved back to CT to live with her daughter Joan Cassel.
For most of her life, Mrs. Bunkoczy was self-employed as a certified master seamstress, but she also worked for Mayhoff in Norwalk, CT and Cappriccio in Scottsdale, AZ. She is survived by a son, Bela Bunkoczy and his wife, Eva of Mesa, AZ and a daughter, Joan Cassel of Kent, CT; two grandchildren: Tracy Veronica Bunkoczy and Stephanie Noel Cassel. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Lajos Morvai and a grandson, Mark Bela Bunkoczy.
A memorial service at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church and interment at The Close at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Kent, CT will be announced at a later date.
