Obituary for Edward Martin Killmer

Edward Martin Killmer, 77, a lifelong resident of Amenia and Wassaic, NY, died on Monday, October 23, 2017 at Sharon Health Care Center in Sharon, CT. Mr. Killmer worked for his father, James Killmer Refuge in Wassaic, NY and later worked as a box printer at Tri-Wall Container in Wassaic. For 27 years, Mr. Killmer was a painter at the Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center retiring in 1995.

Born on June 11, 1940 in Upper Red Hook, NY, he was the son of the late, James and Margaret (Ecoline) Killmer. Mr. Killmer was a member of the CSEA Local #909 and a life member and past lieutenant of the Wassaic Fire Company. Mr. Killmer was an avid bowler, hunter and outdoorsman. Mr. Killmer was also a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church in Amenia, NY.

Mr. Killmer is survived by his former wife, Dorothy Killmer of Wassaic, NY; a son, Ryan Edward Killmer and his wife, Kristi, of Millerton, NY; a brother, James Killmer of Amenia, NY and two sisters, Joan Dietter of Millerton, NY and Helen Harrod of Wassaic, NY. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Nate Killmer and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Killmer was predecease by three brothers, Vincent, Richard and Joseph Killmer and three sisters, Marion Delaney, Beverly Boyles and Jeanie Killmer.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. The Wassaic Fire Company will conduct Firematic services at 6:15 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 6:30 with Rev. R. Kent Wilson officiating.
