Obituary for Hope April Barto
Hope April Barto, 67, a longtime resident of Dover Plains, died on Friday, October 6, 2017 at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY. Mrs. Barto was a secretary at Wassaic Developmental Center in Wassaic, NY for 42 years retiring in 2010.
Born on August 18, 1950 in Norwalk, CT, she was the daughter of the late Mike and Irene (Shacket) McCormick. She was a 1969 graduate of New Milford High School in New Milford, CT. On June 21, 1969 in Gaylordsville, CT, she married Medrick H. Barto who survives at home.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Eric D. Barto and his wife, Jennifer, of Wingdale, NY; a daughter, Bonnie Goodchild and her husband, Steven, of Dover Plains, NY and a brother, Brooks McCormick and his wife, Deborah, of Richmond, VA. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Lauren, Wyatt, Alexis and Aidan Barto and Abigail Goodchild.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. Funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 11 a.m. at South Dover Rural Cemetery in Wingdale, NY.
