Obituary for William M Maier

William M. Maier, 100, a longtime resident of Pawling, NY, died on Friday, September 22, 2017 at his home in Pawling. Mr. Maier was a foreman at Connor’s Engineering in Danbury, CT.

Born on June 6, 1917 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Ludwig and Louise (Fromherz) Maier. Mr. Maier proudly served in the US Army during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post #1949 in Wingdale, NY. His wife, Gloria (Benson) Maier survives at home.

In addition to his loving wife, Mr. Maier is survived by his two sons, William Maier and his wife, Mary, of Sherman, CT and Darrell Maier and his wife, Irene, of Danbury, CT and a daughter, Linn Albert and her husband, Gary, of Dover Plains. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Mr. Maier was predeceased by a son, Lance Maier; a daughter, Marlyne Carr and four sisters, Theresa Barbella, Louise Maier, Agnes Simms and Matilda Hudson.

Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. Funeral services take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Quaker Hill Cemetery in Pawling, NY.
