Obituary for Katherine M Cooper

Katherine M. Cooper, 103, a lifelong resident of Amenia, NY died on Friday, September 8, 2017 at Sharon Health Care Center in Sharon, CT. Mrs. Cooper was the head dining room attendant at the Wassaic Developmental Center for 28 years retiring in 1970.

Born on October 15, 1913 in Malboro, NY, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Pauline (Donnes) Hammer. Mrs. Cooper was a former member of the Dover Bowling League and the South Amenia Senior Center. She was also a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church in Amenia, NY. The family would like to recognize Carol Cayea and Mary Milano for many years of loving care.

Mrs. Cooper is survived by her son, Theron Cooper, III and his wife, Ann, of Plattsburgh, NY and a daughter Pauline Thompson of Florida. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren. She will be missed by many, especially her granddaughter, Kaydee Cooper who was raised by Katherine since birth.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cooper was predeceased by her son, Robert Cooper and three brothers, William, Earl and Robert Hammer.

Calling hours will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12 noon at the Immaculate Conception Church, 4 Lavelle Road, Amenia, NY with Rev. Kent Wilson officiating.
