Elizabeth Berkes, 89, a longtime resident of Dover Plains, NY, died on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at her home in Dover Plains. Mrs. Berkes was a therapy aide at the Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center in Wingdale, NY for 25 years retiring in 1982.

Born on January 15, 1928 in Levél, Hungary she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Erzlibet (Hafbauer) Marka. In 1957, she married Joseph Berkes who predeceased her on December 7, 2009.

Mrs. Berkes is survived by her loving children, Thomas Berkes and Edina Berkes both of Dover Plains, NY and Joe Berkes and his wife, Denise, of Carrol, Iowa. She is also survived by four grandsons, Joseph, Jason, Jacob and Jeffery Berkes and a great-granddaughter, Eliza Berkes.

Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Jon M. Ellingworth officiating. Burial will take place at Valley View Cemetery in Dover Plains.
