Helen C. Tilford, 84, a longtime resident of Dover Plains, NY, formerly of Mahopac, NY passed away on Monday, February 6, 2017 at her home in Dover Plains.

Born on August 12, 1932 in Queens, NY she was the daughter of the late Werner and Lena (Bechauf) Krueger. On May 24, 1952 in Mahopac Falls, NY she married Henry Tilford who predeceased her on June 6, 1997

Mrs. Tilford was a member of the Dover-Wingdale Senior Citizens. She was an avid bowler and was a former member of the Jefferson Valley Bowling League. Mrs. Tilford owned and operated Personal Touch Florist in Mahopac. She enjoyed sewing and gardening and loved to travel.

Mrs. Tilford is survived by her daughter, Fran Wathley of Dover Plains, NY; two grandchildren, Christine Prechtl and her companion, Darren DeGrenier, of Wassaic, NY and Heidi Anderson and her husband, Brett, of Dover Plains, NY. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Zachary Spencer, Ryan McCauley and Summer Anderson. Mrs. Tilford is also survived by her beloved dog, Elizabeth “Lizzie” Taylor. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Tilford was predeceased by two sons, Stephen C. Tilford and Ernest H. Tilford; a sister, Marie Miller and a son-in-law, Phillip P. Wathley.

Calling hours have been RESCHEDULED to FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 2017 from 9:30-11 a.m.at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. Funeral services will follow at 11.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Ballard-Barrett Cemetery in Mahopac Falls, NY.
