Frances J. Matson, 77, a longtime resident of Kent, CT, died on Friday, January 6, 2017 at her home in Kent, CT. Mrs. Matson was a practical nurse at the Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center in Wingdale, NY and later worked at the Kent Pharmacy.

Born on July 9, 1939 in McAlpin, FL she was the daughter of the late Robert F. and Myrtice C. (Cobb) Harris. Mrs. Matson was a graduate of Housatonic Valley Regional High School class of 1957. She was also a graduate of St. Margaret’s House and Hospital School of Nursing in Albany, NY. On September 17, 1960 in Kent, CT she married Ralph A. Matson who predeceased her on November 27, 2016.

Mrs. Matson was a volunteer at New Milford Hospital. She was also very active in many Kent community organizations. Mrs. Matson was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Kent, Ct.

Mrs. Matson is survived by her daughter, Christine Utsogn and her husband, Toby, of New Milford, CT.

Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. Burial at Kent Congregational Cemetery will be private.
