Obituary for Helen Elizabeth Kehoe
Helen E. Kehoe, formerly of Ridgefield, died December 13, 2016 at Hancock Hall/Filosa in Danbury, Connecticut at the age of 99. Helen was born Helen Elizabeth Niemeyer on December 21, 1916 in Great Neck, New York to William Niemeyer and Elizabeth Clark Niemeyer.
Helen graduated from St. Catherine’s Hospital School of Nursing, Brooklyn, New York in June 1938. She was a registered nurse in New York and Connecticut. She was married to Stephen J. Kehoe of Ridgefield, Connecticut on May 25, 1943. While living in Ridgefield, she was a dedicated nurse to Ridgefield doctor Theodore Safford for over 25 years until her retirement in 1978. She was a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Ridgefield and after she moved to Dover Plains, New York she attended St. Charles Church.
Helen was known for her patience, kindness, professional competence, cheerfulness and conscientiousness in the highest tradition of the nursing profession. She was also very loved by her only sister and many nieces and nephews.
Helen was predeceased by her husband Stephen Kehoe and is survived by her sister Dorothy Crofut of Danbury, Connecticut, nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and great-grand nieces.
Friends and family will be received on Monday, December 19, 2016 between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon at Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at noon, with burial immediately following at St. Charles Cemetery, Dover Plains. Memorial contributions may be made to the J.H.
