Obituary for Lorraine Pezzuti

Lorraine Pezzuti
Lorraine Pezzuti, 64, a longtime resident of Wingdale, New York, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2016 at New Milford Hospital in New Milford, Connecticut.

Her devoted husband of 37 years, Michael Pezzuti, shared that his wife Lorri’s definition of success was not measured by one’s title, accolades, or income, but rather the deep love and commitment one has for and gives to her family, friends, community, and faith. By adhering to these values, Lorri lived and loved fully, and her life will have a lasting impact on everyone she encountered.

Born on August 18, 1952 in Mt. Vernon, New York, Lorri was the daughter of the late Harold Young and Josephine Peluso Young. She graduated with Honors from St. Gabrielle’s High School in New Rochelle and completed some coursework at Hunter College.

Lorri dedicated her life to her adoring husband and two children. On November 18, 1979 in Mt. Vernon, she married the love of her life, Michael Pezzuti, whom she first met when they worked together at Shopwell Supermarket. In addition to her husband, Lorri is survived by their son Tyler Pezzuti, a Danbury Hospital employee and volunteer firefighter, and daughter Kristin Pezzuti, a lawyer practicing in Manhattan. Lorri was known in the community as a former Dutchess County Girl Scouts leader for many years and a substitute teacher at Dover Schools. During the years in which she and her husband raised their children, Lorri made life-long friends in the Wingdale community. They will sorely miss her joyous laugh and high-spirited, optimistic nature.

For 27 years up until the time of her passing, Lorri was a dedicated customer service representative at Danbury Hospital’s Laboratory. Diligent, popular, and funny are just a few ways her colleagues describe her. She took pride in helping patients through her hard work. Lorri was also a faithful parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church in Pawling, NY, and attended mass every Sunday with her husband.

Lorri is survived by a brother, Gregory Young of Mahopac, NY and a sister, Kathleen Casella of Mt. Vernon, NY. In addition to her parents, Lorri was predeceased by a sister, Diane DeNisco.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, December 12, 2016 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 39 E. Main Street, Pawling, NY. Burial will follow at South Dover Rural Cemetery in Wingdale, NY.
