Rodney H.  Williams
Rodney H. Williams, 90, a longtime resident of Kent, CT, died on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at his home in Kent. Mr. Williams was a Psychology and Psychological Counseling Professor at Brooklyn College for 22 years, retiring in 1988.

Born on May 11, 1926 in Galva, Iowa, he was the son of the late Glen and Hazel (Walter) Williams. He received a bachelor’s degree from Hastings College in Hastings, NE, a Master’s Degree from Columbia University and a PhD from New York University.

Rodney proudly served in the US Army Air Force as a staff sergeant during WWII, serving in the Pacific. He was among the first forces to enter Japan after the armistice. Following the war, he served a stint as a lieutenant in the Air Force.

He was an active member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Kent, serving on the Vestry Committee and as a longtime member of the choir.

Rodney is survived by his partner, James Brownell of Kent and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Lona Hansen.

A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. on December 16, 2016 at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 1 N. Main St., Kent, CT with Rev. Roger White officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 309, Kent, CT 06757 or the Kent Memorial Library, P.O. Box 127, Kent, CT 06757.
