Ralph Arthur  Matson
Ralph Arthur Matson, 82, a lifelong resident of Kent, CT died on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at Sharon Hospital in Sharon, CT. Mr. Matson was employed by A & P in the Kent, New Milford, Stratford and Danbury stores for 31 years. He also worked at Kent School in the receiving department for 13 years.

Born on July 15, 1934 in Sharon, CT he was the son of the late Edward Lincoln Matson, Sr. and Gertrude S. (Hall) Matson. Mr. Matson was an avid baseball player who was scouted by the Pittsburgh Pirates, but choose to enlist in the Army. He proudly served in the US Army from 956-1958. On September 17, 1960 in Kent, CT he married Frances J. Harris who survives at home.

Mr. Matson was a life member of the Kent Volunteer Fire Company and was one of the first EMTs on the Kent Ambulance. He was also a former Town of Kent Constable and was a member of the Town of Kent Historical Society.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Matson is survived by his daughter, Christine Utsogn and her husband, Toby, of New Milford, CT. He is also survived by four brothers, Samuel Matson of Claremont, NH, Douglas Matson of Kent, CT, Walter L. Matson of Danbury, CT and Gerald Burwell of Florida. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Edward Lincoln Matson, Jr. and three sisters, Clara Hinkell, Gertrude Ericksen and Marian Scott.

Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. Burial will be private.
