Donald O. Anderson, Sr., 81, a longtime resident of Wingdale, NY, passed away on Monday, November 21, 2016 at his home in Wingdale, NY. Mr. Anderson owned and operated Don Anderson Excavating in Wingdale, NY. He was also a former Town of Dover Highway Superintendent and later was the Superintendent of the Harlem Valley Golf Association.
Born on January 10, 1935 in New Milford, CT he was the son of the late Oscar and Margaret (Horan) Anderson. On December 12, 1954 in Pawling, NY, he married Carolyn L. Greiner who predeceased him on January 23, 2015. Mr. Anderson was a former member of the Harlem Valley Golf Club in Wingdale, NY where he achieved five hole-in-ones. He was also an avid hunter.
Mr. Anderson is survived by two sons, Donald O. Anderson, Jr. and his wife, Karen, of Wingdale, NY, Martin J. Anderson and his wife, Tina, of Dover Plains, NY, and three daughters, Elizabeth J. Calabro of Tucson, AZ, Peggy Robinson of Dayton Beach, FL and Debbie A. Jennings and her husband, Bill, of Daytona Beach, FL; a brother, Richard Anderson of Orgeon and three sisters, Mary Cahill of Beacon, NY, Patricia Davis of Scottsdale, AZ and Rosemary Scott of Florida. He is also survived by six grandchildren, George Calabro III, Kristin Calabro, Nichole Robinson, Cody Renee Anderson, Aaron Anderson and Anna Anderson and three great grandchildren, Dominick Calabro, Daniel Nobrega and Mason Pope. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Anderson was also predeceased by three brother, Arthur, Peter and John Anderson.
Calling hours will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. Funeral services will follow at 12 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at South Dover Rural Cemetery in Wingdale.
