Shirley Moore Gregory, 84, of Millbrook, NY formerly a longtime resident of Wassaic, NY died on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at The Fountains in Millbrook, NY. Mrs. Gregory taught in a number of school districts including Albany NY, Amenia NY and Sharon CT. Mrs. Gregory retired from the Wassaic Developmental Center in Wassaic, NY were she worked as a Special Education Teacher for many years. Post retitement she worked as an after school aide in the Webutuck district and a Kindergarten Aide at Kent Center School in Kent, CT.

Born on March 2, 1932 in Red Hook, NY she was the daughter of the late Arnold Edward and Ester Gwendolyn (Wright) Moore. Mrs. Gregory received a Batchelors (1954) and Master’s Degree in Education(1978) from SUNY New Paltz. On November 22, 1958 in Rhinebeck, NY she married William H. Gregory who predeceased her on March 10, 2008. Mrs. Gregory was a member of the South Amenia Presbyterian Church and belonged to the Women of the Church Club.

Mrs. Gregory is survived by her two sons, Jack Gregory and his wife, Linda, of Amenia, NY and Robert Gregory and his wife, Julie, of Sharon, CT and a daughter, Jill Gregory of Acton, MA. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Kaitlin, Allyson, Shylan, Justin, and Janay Gregory. And two nephews Frank and John Pelegrino and a grand nephew Zachery Pelegrino. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Gregory was predeceased by a sister, Arlene Pelegrino.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. Funeral services will take place at 1 p.m. on Monday, November 7, 2016 at the South Amenia Presbyterian Church, 229 South Amenia Road, Wassaic, NY with Rev. Zora Ficarra-Cheatham officiating.
