Obituary for Joseph Harry Dingee Sr.

Joseph Harry  Dingee Sr.
Joseph Harry Dingee, Sr., 86, a lifelong resident of Dover Plains, NY died on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at New Milford Hospital in New Milford, CT. Mr. Dingee was a foreman at Pawling Corp. in Pawling, NY for 45 years retiring in 1995.

Born on August 18, 1930 on Meadowbrook Farm in Wingdale, NY he was the son of the late John and Anna (Tracey) Dingee. On July 15, 1961 he married Georgia Barrett who survives at home. For over 55 years they shared a loving marriage. Mr. Dingee was a 58 year member of the J.H. Ketcham Hose Co. and a life member of the Rescue squad. He was also a member of the Dutchess County Volunteer Fireman Association and the Exempt Fireman Association. Mr. Dingee was a longtime Town of Dover Constable, Dover School crossing guard, and a member of the Dutchess County Auxilary Police. He received the J. H. Ketcham Hanna Award in 2001. In 2006, Mr. Dingee received the Town of Dover Community Service Award.

In addition to his loving wife, Mr. Dingee is survived by his son, Joseph H. Dingee, Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Dover Plains, NY; two daughters, Luann Scarmozzino of Manhattan, NY and Nancy Smith and her husband, Stuart, of Wallkill, NY. He is also survived by a sister, Lillian Rozelle of Dover Plains, NY; seven grandchildren, Christopher and Derek Dingee, Heather and Anna Smith and Amanda, Samantha and Elena Scarmozzino and two step-grandchildren, Stuart Smith, Jr. and Jeffrey Smith. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Mr. Dingee is predeceased by three sisters, Helen, Hazel and Marion and six brothers, John, Albert, Mortimer, Morris, Martin and David.

Calling hours will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. Funeral services will take place at 12 p.m. at the funeral home. The J. H. Ketcham Hose Co. will conduct firematic services immediately following the funeral service.
