Obituary for Phillip Wathley

Phillip   Wathley
Phillip P. Wathley, 73, a lifelong resident of Dover Plains, died on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Zion, IL. Mr. Wathley was a transport truck driver with Taylor Oil in Dover Plains for 32 years retiring in 2014. He also worked as a farmer at Valley Stream Farm in Dover Plains and most recently was a transport truck driver with J & J Log and Lumber in Dover Plains. Born on August 30, 1943 in Poughkeepsie, NY, he was the son of the late Frank and Jayne (Reichenberg) Wathley. On March 12, 2005 in Las Vegas, NV, he married Fran Tilford who survives at home.

Mr. Wathley was a former member of the Chestnut Ridge Gun Club and former member of the J. H. Ketcham Hose Company and Ambulance Corps in Dover Plains. He was a parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Church in Dover Plains. An avid hunter and fisherman, he also loved NASCAR, RV camping, 4-H, traveling and woodworking. He enjoyed many fishing trips to Lake Ontario with good friends and family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Shawn Wathley and his companion, Cathleen Taber, of New Milford, CT; two daughters, Chrissy Prechtl and her companion, Darren DeGrenier, of Wassaic, NY and Heidi Anderson and her husband, Brett, of Dover Plains; a sister Margaret Bell of Tennessee; five grandchildren, Phillip J. Wathley and his fiancée, Kasi Ragan Kastelein, Samantha Jo Wathley, Zachary Spencer, Ryan McCauley and Summer Anderson and his beloved dogs, Twiggy and Ziggy. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter Marshelle A. Wathley, his sister, Bonnie Pratt, and his uncle, Richard Reichenberg.

Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 28, 2016 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at St. Charles Borromeo Church, Mill St. Dover Plains. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Dover Plains.
