Hazel D. Knuffke, 88, a longtime area resident, died on Friday, September 30, 2016 at Sharon Health Care Center in Sharon, CT. Mrs. Knuffke was a store clerk at Terni’s Store in Millerton, NY for many years. Born on January 26, 1928 in North Wilkesboro, NC, she was the daughter of the late Avery and Annadell (Barker) Elliott. On April 11, 1949 in Pleasant Valley, NY, she married Francis Knuffke who predeceased her on September 28, 1981.
Mrs. Knuffke is survived by her longtime companion, Harold Curtiss; four sons, Francis J. Knuffke of Sumter, SC, John A. Knuffke and his companion, Jaimie Pelkey of Dover Plains, NY, Michael Knuffke of Burkesville, KY and Martin E. Knuffke and his wife, Kelly, of Kingston, NY and a daughter, Boni Pelliciotti and her husband, Steve, of Dover Plains. She is also survived by four sisters, Mary Barnum of Springhill, FL, Lee Berti of Lynchberg, VA, Laura Griggs of Stewart, FL and Wilma Dills of Pisgah Forest, NC and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Besides her parents and her husband, she was also predeceased by a brother, John Elliott.
