Obituary for Ruth Miller (Palmer)
Ruth Palmer Miller, 92, a lifelong area resident died on Monday, August 1, 2016 at Laurel Ridge Health Care Center in Ridgefield, CT.
Born on February 20, 1924 in Sharon, CT she was the daughter of the late Arthur G. and Pauline (Masius) Palmer. Mrs. Miller graduated from Dover High School and the Krissler Business Institute in Poughkeepsie, NY. On April 6, 1947 in Dover Plains, NY she married Howard Darwin Miller who predeceased her on September 9, 2005. Mrs. Miller was a member of the Amenia United Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Miller worked as a bookkeeper for AG Palmer Novelty in Dover Plains, NY.
Mrs. Miller is survived by a son, Brian Miller of Dover Plains, NY and a daughter, Margaret McGillivray of Wilton, CT. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Amanda Centore, Brianne Miller and Charles, Burton, Douglas and Russell McGillivray and six great-grandchildren, Luca and Lorenzo Centore, Gracie-Ann, Angela, Emily and Jordan Light.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Miller was predeceased by a son, Howard Darwin Miller, Jr., two brothers, Arthur G. Palmer, Jr. and William Palmer and four sisters, Doris Warren, Margaret Lamb, Pauline Deuel and Virginia Coletti.
Calling hours will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, August 5, 2016 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. A graveside service and burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery, S. Nellie Hill Road, Dover Plains, NY.
