Charles Frederick Beebe, 82, a lifelong resident of Dover Plains, NY passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY. Mr. Beebe was a correction officer at Green Haven Correctional Facility for 25 years retiring in 1982.
Born on November 12, 1932 in Poughkeepsie, NY he was the son of the late Nellie (DeGarmo) Beebe. Mr. Beebe was a graduate of Dover High School and proudly served in the United State Air Force. On October 26, 1957 at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Dover Plains, NY he married his High School sweetheart, Gloria Pozza who survives at home.
Mr. Beebe was a life member of the J. H. Ketcham Hose Company and the Chestnut Ridge Rod and Gun Club. Mr. Beebe was a member of the VFW Post #5444 in Dover Plains, NY and the American Legion Post #1949 in Wingdale, NY. He was also a parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Church in Dover Plains, NY. Mr. Beebe was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting and gardening. He loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his loving wife, Mr. Beebe is survived by his son, Charles Francis Beebe of Stony Creek, CT and two daughters, Gina Beebe of Branford, CT and Lisa Schmidt and her husband, Edward, of Greenwich, CT. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Lisa C., Emilie K. and Jaime Beebe, Jessica Pham, and Eddie Schmidt and two great grandchildren, Delphi Pentin and Victoria Pham. Besides his parents, Mr. Beebe was predeceased by a sister, Gloria Beebe.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 23, 2015 at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Charles Cemetery in Dover Plains, NY.
