Obituary for Carolyn Louise Anderson (Greiner)

Carolyn Louise  Anderson (Greiner)
Carolyn Louise Greiner Anderson, 78, a lifelong resident of Wingdale, NY, passed away on Friday, January 23, 2015 at Danbury Hospital in Danbury, CT. Born on February 7, 1936 in Sharon, CT, she was the daughter of the late William and Louise (Ahner) Greiner. A graduate of Dover High School and the Krissler Business School in Poughkeepsie, Mrs. Anderson completed a nursing degree at the Harlem Valley School of Nursing in Wingdale. On December 12, 1954 in Pawling, NY, she married Donald O. Anderson, Sr. who survives at home. For 34 years, she worked as a registered nurse in Building 85 at the Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center in Wingdale, retiring in 1992.

Mrs. Anderson was a member of the Harlem Valley Golf Club and the Women’s League in Wingdale. She also loved to ride horses, to knit and crochet and enjoyed flower gardening. However, her greatest joy in life was her family and grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Donald O. Anderson, Jr. and his wife, Karen, of Wingdale, NY, Martin J. Anderson and his wife, Tina, of Dover Plains, NY, and three daughters, Elizabeth J. Calabro of Tucson, AZ, Peggy Robinson of Dayton Beach, FL and Debbie A. Jennings and her husband, Bill, of Daytona Beach, FL; three brothers, William Greiner of Wingdale, NY, Charles Greiner of Wingdale, NY and Howard Greiner of Pawling, NY, and a sister, Barbara Arno of Plattsburgh, NY. She is also survived by six grandchildren, George Calabro III, Kristin Calabro, Nichole Robinson, Cody Renee Anderson, Aaron Anderson and Anna Anderson and three great grandchildren, Dominick Calabro, Daniel Nobrega and Mason Pope. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by a brother, Jack Greiner.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 301 Manchester Rd., Suite 105, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at South Dover Rural Cemetery in Wingdale.
