Obituary for Lionel Hampton Bowser

Lionel Hampton  Bowser
Lionel Hampton Bowser, Jr., 44, a lifelong area resident died on January 3, 2015 at home in Wingdale, NY. Lionel was a truck driver at Dills Building and Home Center in Lagrangeville, NY.

Born on June 30, 1970 in Carmel, NY, he was the son of Lionel Hampton Bowser, Sr. of Poughkeepsie, NY and Clarice McPherson Murphy and step-father, Larry Murphy of Wingdale, NY. Lionel was a graduate of Webutuck High School Class of 1988. Lionel proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp and was a decorated Desert Storm veteran. He was also a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Stormville, NY.

In addition to his parents and step-father, Lionel is survived by his children, Lionel and Shateek Bowser, both of Dover Plains, NY, DaRonn Stickle of Poughkeepsie, NY, Anthony Bowser of Waterbury, CT, Monique Bowser of Florida and Gianna Bowser of Waterbury, CT; two brothers, Michael Bowser and his wife, Tracey, of West Stockbridge, MA and Lionel Futrell of Wingdale, NY; three sisters, Lisa Bowser of Lacker, NC, Crystal Rodriguez of Wingdale, NY and Johnna McPherson-Murphy of Baltimore, MD and one grandchild, Nevaeh Barnes. He is also survived by four nieces, Apple and Jasmine Bowser and Shevon and Laveena Allen; three nephews, Jayden Bowser, Michael Bowser, Jr. and Nasciam Bowser; two former wives, Kimberly Duncan of Dover Plains, NY and Gina Spero of Waterbury, CT and a loving friend, Michelle of Dover Plains, NY. He is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Lionel was predeceased by a sister, Juanita Allen and a brother, Lawrence Bowser.

Visitation will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 10 S. Green Haven Road, Stormville, NY. Funeral services with military honors will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with Rev. Walter R. Hall, Jr. officiating.
