Obituary for James Leonard Bean

James Leonard  Bean
James L. Bean, 76, a longtime resident of Dover Plains, NY died on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Sharon Health Care Center in Sharon, CT. Mr. Bean owned and operated J.L. Bean and Son Painting in Dover Plains, NY and also worked at Wassaic Development Center as a painter for 20 years.

Born on January 28, 1939 in Ogdensburg, NY he was the son of the late Frederick and Mae (Rheaume) Bean. Mr. Bean proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1955-1958. In Millbrook, NY he married Rose Vincent who survives at home. Mr. Bean was an avid bowler, fisherman, hunter and golfer. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, James L. Bean, Jr. and his wife, Laura of Dover Plains, NY, Robert Bean and his wife, Angel Colores of Illinois and Michael Bean of Illinois; two daughters, Theresa Heinman and her husband, Chuck of Illinois and Cynthia Bean of Florida and a brother, Harold Bean of Fairport, NY. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Kathryn and Rebecca Bean, Misty Aubry, Heather Post, and Cory and Timmy Heinman and four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services and burial will take place at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Valley View Cemetery, S. Nellie Hill Road, Dover Plains, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, P.O. Box 5018 Hagerstown, MD 21741-5018.
