Dorothy Newcombe Newvine, 74, a longtime resident of Amenia, NY formerly of Rensselaer Falls, NY passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Sharon Hospital in Sharon, CT. Mrs. Newvine was a teacher’s aide at Webutuck Schools in Amenia, NY for 32 years. After her retirement she continued to substitute teach in Webutuck when needed.

Born on November 9, 1939 in Rensselaer Falls, NY she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Marion (Bush) Newcombe. Mrs. Newvine was a graduate of Hermon De Kalb Central Schools class of 1960. On February 4, 1961 in Richville, NY she married Neil Newvine who survives at home. Mrs. Newvine loved camping, plastic canvas crafts, knitting, and reading. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her loving children, Pamela Mercilliott and her husband, Lawrence, of Wassaic, NY, Jeffrey Newvine and his wife, Michelle of Fulton, NY and Rebecca Giunta and her husband, Jon of Liverpool, NY and three grandchildren, Austin Giunta, Makayla Newvine and Carson Newvine. She is also survived by three sisters, Ilene Cole and her companion Ivan Gordon of Ogdensburg, NY, Ethel Newcombe of Richville, NY and Mary Ames of Canton, NY and four brothers, Earl Newcombe and his wife, Helen of Rensselar Falls, NY, Joe Newcombe and his wife Marilyn of Rockfall, CT, Howard Newcombe and his wife Marion of De Kalb Junction, NY, Chuck Newcombe and his wife Barbara of Edwards, NY, and Larry Newcombe and his wife, Pamela of Whitehall, NY.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. A funeral service will take place at 12 noon on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at Allen-Denesha Funeral Home, 4330 US Highway 11, DeKalb, Junction, NY. Burial will follow at Hermon Cemetery in Hermon, NY.
