William Leonard "Bill"  King Jr.
William Leonard “Bill” King, Jr., 76, a longtime resident of Sherman, CT, entered into rest on January 6, 2014 at Danbury Hospital in Danbury, CT. Mr. King was a conductor for Metro-North Rail Road for 37 years retiring in 2003.

Born on April 21, 1937 in Brewster, NY, he was the son of the late William L. King, Sr. and Gertrude (Coffey) King. Mr. King graduated Danbury High School class of 1955 and proudly served in the U.S. Army’s 101st Airborne Division from 1956 – 1959. In Dover Plains, NY he married Lily Mancia who survives at home in Sherman, CT. Mr. King loved birds and horses, was a lifetime member of the American Quarter Horse Association, former proprietor of Diamond K Boot and Saddle Shop and founding member of Western Horse Owners Association(W.H.O.A). After retiring from the railroad he started Dutchess Real Estate Asset Management Group (D.R.E.A.M.), still running and prospering today.


In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Robin Marie King of Woodbury, CT; three sons, Brad M. King and his wife, Kelly, of Dover Plains, NY, William L. King, III and his wife, Maria, of Stratford, CT and Maxwell King of New York, NY; a brother, John King of New York ,NY and four grandchildren, Lindsay G. Zavesky, Justin and Jeremy Garavel and Leah M. King.

Calling hours will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday, January 10, 2014 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 83 Mill St. Dover Plains, NY. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in the Veteran’s Section of Valley View Cemetery in Dover Plains, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Quarter Horse Association, 1600 Quarter Horse Drive, Amarillo, TX 79104.
