Andras Kormendy, 78, a longtime resident of Amenia, NY, died on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Calvary Hospital in Bronx, NY. Mr. Kormendy was a therapy aide at the Wassaic Developmental Center in Wassaic, NY for 32 years retiring in 1991.

Born on May 22, 1935 in Hungary, he was the son of the late László and Erzsébet (Katona) Körmendy. On May 27, 1965 in Hudson, NY he married Donna Stafkey who predeceased him on February 2, 2007. Mr. Kormendy coached and played in the Germania Soccer Club in Pleasant Valley, NY and was a member of the Amenia Fire Company.

He is survived by his son, Michael Kormendy and his wife, Sharon, of Crompond, NY; a sister, Giszella Elek of Poughkeepsie, NY and two grandchildren, Savannah and Andras John Kormendy.

Graveside services and burial will take place at 12 p.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Amenia Island Cemetery, Route 343 in Amenia, NY with Rev. Kent Wilson officiating.
