Obituary for Hazel Ann Vincent

Hazel Ann Vincent
Hazel Ann Vincent
Hazel (Perry) Vincent, a longtime resident of Dover Plains, went to her heavenly home on October 5, 2013 after a long-fought battle with Parkinson’s disease. She passed away at home surrounded by her loving family.
Hazel was born in Dunlow, West Virginia on December 28, 1935, the only daughter in a family of ten children. Her parents, James and Jannievee (Jude) Perry, raised their family in the spirit of hard work, dedication to God and looking forward to their heavenly home. Hazel married Charles Gerald Vincent on July 23, 1954. Hazel was a very active mother and THE VERY BEST Nana. She never missed an activity or sports event that her children were involved in and often attended school events to cheer on children who were not her own. Hazel was a teacher’s assistant in the Dover School district for over 25 years. She loved her job and invested much time in the children she taught. She enjoyed her retirement as it allowed her to be passionately involved in the lives of her grandchildren. She often went to great lengths to enjoy football, baseball and softball games in which her grandchildren would play.
Hazel is survived by her husband, Charles Gerald Vincent of Dover Plains, her children, Rita Judson (David) of Milan NY, Carmine Salter (Gene) of Pensacola FL, Charles of Dover Plains, Christopher (Lori) of Dover Plains, Steven (Jaime), and Ann-Marie Edge (Donald) of Fort Myers FL.
Hazel’s grandchildren were her greatest joy. They are Matthew Judson, Melanie Judson, James Edge, Zachary Salter, Nathan Vincent, Amiee (Troy) Christiana, Steven Vincent, Christopher Salter, Kevin Edge, Janna Salter, William Vincent, Elyssa Vincent, Kelsey Vincent, Elijah Vincent, Daniel Edge, Owen Vincent, Curtis Edge, and Sarah Vincent.
She is also survived by two great grandchildren, Kaylee Sanderson and Tyson Christiana and two brothers, James and Verland Perry of West Virginia.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers Clarence, Raymond, Curtis, William Harrison, Clyde, Glenn and Woodrow Perry.

Private funeral services will be held at the Hufcut Funeral Home, Dover Plains, NY. Burial will take place at the William Perry Cemetery in West Virginia. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belford Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32256 or at www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
